Paul Gauguin

First, there was not much to hike and second, the tropical rain was making every track soggy and hard to track. The only thing I was looking forward to was the Paul Gauguin Museum, which much to my disappointment, was not original work of the artist. It's just a collection of various sculptures for tourists to browse and huge souvenir shops for those cruise liners anchoring at the port of Papeete. There happened to be two American cruise liners sailing in from Los Angeles, which you could start imagining swamping groups of tourists rushing to pick up souvenirs over the shops.
