CITY OF BRIGHT LIGHTS

It's amazing how a couple of days away from the chaos and bright lights of the city can change my whole perspective on a country. The friendly smiles are everywhere in Thailand, even in Bangkok, but a few days on the river enjoying the company of the local tribes just made me want to explore more and more. While some of my close friends have been relocated to Bangkok in the recent years. It is almost a bonus to them, albeit for the hot weather. The exquisite arrays of Thai food, fascinating night life, rich culture and thrills of amazing shopping do make up for the scorching heat throughout this tropical country.

Thailand certainly lift up to its slogan "Amazing Thailand". Perhaps it has a treasure pot for everyone and everything. From cultural tours to gourmet trips, from zen-spas to a shopper's paradise and for the adventurers, there are extreme games to ecology tours. On one particular occasion, I had mentioned to my god-brother that my trip would be complete if I could visit the famous Patphong area. His eyes dilated and he went berserk, "No way!" You see, I had heard about Thailand for most of my adult life, but not of a fallen tiger economy feasted on by herds of package tourists. The famous place with a dreamy charm and famous for its Full Moon rave, said by some to be a quasi-spiritual experience and had also assumed the status of Mecca for the Ecstasy generation in the 90s. Nevertheless, he finally succumbed to my begging and took me to the Bangkok red-light districts.
