WAR MUSEUM

In 1991, I visited Bangkok again. On this trip my god-brother has taken the trouble to take me up to the war memorial to quench my thirst of curiosity. For me, after traveling in the comfort of my parents' provision during my younger days no longer appeal to me. My curiosity navigates where I like to go, and to understand what these prisoners of wars had to endure, the JEATH war museum as well as the cemetery were the sole purpose of my visit. Traveling on the Death Railway then became much more significant as we try to fathom what these men went through.

From here we headed up stream into the jungle and left behind the trauma of war and replaced it with a feeling of serenity and calm on the River Kwai. I met two girls from Sydney on this trip and they were immediately excited to reach our floating hotel. They had been hit by culture shocked upon arrival in Bangkok and were already enjoying getting out of town and seeing some of what else Thailand had to offer.
